Ever since Michael Cade was young, the dancing flame has intrigued him. Michael learned from a young age to appreciate the power of fire from his father, a L.A.F.D. firefighter. Several childhood visits to Disneyland promoted his interest in molten glass after watching the park’s glass artist create delicate souvenirs. His respect for fire and the fluent wares forged from it have become his life’s passion. He’s been experimenting with formations of fluidity since 1999. Having had no formal training or instruction, he is completely self-taught in this 2500-degree glass art form.
Michael is completely mystified by the brilliant pallet of colorful depths that can be achieved with borosilicate glass, a type of glass known for its strength and durability. His collection includes, but is never limited to several distinctive lines of jewelry, a wide variety of handcrafted personal baubles, as well as his cremorial line where he offers a variety of memorial art keepsakes.
A loyal, repeat customer base have inspired the creation of his two main businesses, Cremorial Creations and Firecandy Glass. As the sole artist and creator, none of his pieces are ever mass-produced. This limited production insures top of the line quality and one of a kind uniqueness.
Michael’s hobbies, organic gardening and participation in several holistic activities, allow a constant flow of inspiration to be realized. Michael is a Southern California native and currently resides on a three acre ranch in Thousand Oaks, California with his wife, Kimberly, a middle school teacher and their fox red Labrador, Kona Kailua.
